More Signs That Spring Has Sprung In Benicia
March 10th, 2009 categories: Benicia
After almost a solid week of wet wintry weather, the hills are turning an emerald green, wildflowers and tulips are starting to bloom, and the goats are out in full force, munching down Southampton’s newly sprouted weeds and grasses. Yes, the first signs of Spring are popping out all over Benicia.
Yesterday was a crystal-clear day in Benicia. So as I drove around town, I couldn’t help but snap my first ‘Green Hills’ photos of 2009. It was a day just made for photography.
For those who don’t live in our ‘neck of the woods,’ the hills surrounding Benicia (as well as the rest of the Bay Area and Northern California) turn a brilliant green every Spring. Eventually, the warm weather arrives and by May, they’re usually golden brown, a color that remains late the following winter.
They say that Spring is all about rebirth, new hopes and dreams and starting anew. You couldn’t help but be energized as you looked at Benicia’s brilliant landscapes yesterday. Even my first tulip of the season emerged in my front yard (see the photo below).
More of the same type of weather is predicted over the next several days, so I’ll be ready to snap a few pictures here and there and will share more of the wonderful scenic beauty that continues to make Benicia such a popular place to live.
