Solano County Real Estate Report For Sept. 28: Inventory About Where It Was In Early August

This week will mark the end of the 3rd quarter, which means that three-quarters of 2009 will be in the books by mid-week. Hard to believe.weekly-solano-home-report

The past week saw a few interesting developments, though by and large, as the headline indicates, we’re pretty close to where we were about two months ago.

The inventory of available homes for sale in Solano County, which had started to climb earlier this month, has now dropped back to the same level as early August.

The biggest news was in Benicia, where there were more than twice as many closed sales last week (9) than the city’s weekly average (4.2) for the year. Benicia also registered its 5th highest total of the year for new pending sales as well.

Some other highlights from this week’s report:

  • Fairfield has seen its inventory plummet over the past two weeks by a total of 35 active listings. That’s a 14% decline from the week of Sept. 14.
  • Vacaville had only about half as many closings last week as its year-to-date average.
  • Vallejo had 49 new pending sales last week — the third time in the past six weeks that Vallejo has registered 49 sales.
  • Even though Suisun’s 54 active listings is that city’s high for the month, it’s still its fifth lowest total of the year.
  • Suisun has seen its number of active listings decline by the greatest percentage so far this year (-76.7%), followed by Vallejo (-73.6%) and Fairfield/Green Valley (-68.7%).
